The Real Life Story
The Real Life blend was inspired by two of our faith clubs and a teen center in the San Diego (City Heights) area.
A group of students started to meet back in 2012 and said, “Let’s make a faith club that talks about real-life issues, life without a dad, drugs, and unhealthy relationships.”
The students found further inspiration for the name after reading John 10:10: “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come to give life and life to the full.”
UYC staff have been mentoring students in the City Heights area through exercise, teaching guitar, offering homework help, going through Bible study lessons, making T-shirts, and serving the community.
The teen center, connected to these Real Life clubs, launched in 2025 and was a dream decades in the making. It brings all these life elements together in one place.
