What Makes UYC Distinct?

At UYC, we exist to win students to Christ, connect them with the local church, and equip them as disciple-makers who lead change in their schools, neighborhoods, and beyond.

UYC - Relational Connection

Relational Connection

Focus on mentorship, campus clubs, chaplaincy, and discipleship.

The Gospel’s power is revealed most clearly in relationships, not programs. We commit to walking with students in their everyday settings—not distant spectators, but neighbors, mentors, and advocates.

  • We engage through student-led campus clubs that meet voluntarily during non-instructional time, serving spiritual food (God’s Word) and physical food.
  • We step into chaplaincy work, partnering with coaches, athletes, and teams through pre-game talks, team chapels, on-field optional prayer, and summer camps.
  • We support mentorship and discipleship, enabling deeper conversations that help students wrestle with their identity, purpose, and faith.

We want a student to feel: “Someone sees me. Someone cares. Someone walks with me.”

UYC - Strategic Engagement

Strategic Engagement

Partnership with churches, schools, ministry pods, and leadership training.

We don’t believe in parachuting into schools or duplicating efforts. Instead, we pursue strategic partnership with churches, local leaders, schools, and students so that our work is rooted and sustainable.

  • We equip churches with tools and strategies to bring the Gospel into public school contexts.
  • We deploy ministry pods — local teams that adapt the UYC model to context, culture, and student needs.
  • We emphasize legal compliance and excellence: all clubs, assemblies, and gatherings adhere to policy and best practices to ensure the work is allowed, sustainable, and respected in public schools.
  • We invest in leadership training for student leaders, church leaders, and volunteer coaches so that the model multiplies beyond our direct involvement.

Our aim: for the local church to operate confidently on-campus, not outsourcing spiritual work to an external agency.

UYC - Our Commitments

Our Commitments

Values: faithfulness to Gospel, stewardship, cultural relevance, learning, collaboration.

To make our distinctives real, we commit to:

  • Faithfulness to the Gospel: Never compromising the truth of Christ in pursuit of relevance.
  • Transparency and stewardship: Careful management of resources, always accountable to donors and partners.
  • Cultural relevance: Listening to generation Z’s language, challenges, hopes, and struggles.
  • Continuous learning and adaptation: Regularly assessing impact, inviting feedback, and improving.
  • Collaboration over competition: Inviting churches, schools, nonprofits, and community leaders into shared vision rather than duplicating efforts.

Vision & Impact

By 2028, reach 10,000 public school students each week with the gospel at 200 public school ministry sites in 10 US cities and 3 global locations.

  • We’ve reached over 90,000 unique students through public school outreach.
  • We operate in multiple U.S. cities and international locations, including San Diego, Atlanta, Spokane, Columbia, Tijuana, and beyond.
  • In volunteer service alone, student leaders have contributed hundreds of thousands of service hours across neighborhoods.
  • Students involved in UYC programs are 4× more likely to graduate, avoid risky behaviors, and contribute to society.
